How it works

Solar panels (PV modules)These are the first part of the system; they turn energy from the sun into electrical energy.
InverterThis converts the electrical energy to useful power and feeds into your electrical system either by connecting to your existing consumer unit or a separate, smaller one added for this purpose.
Battery
storage
Batteries are used to store any surplus generated electricity for later use. The size/capacity of the battery storage will depend on your PV system and household demand.
Load shiftingThis is where you charge the battery from the grid when the electricity is a cheaper rate so you can use it during times when the prices are higher.
Back-upIn the event of a power cut, energy stored in the battery can be used to power either your entire home or just essential circuits for example lighting and heating. The effectiveness of this will depend on both battery capacity and the amount of charge in the battery.
Smart Export
Guarantee
(S.E.G.):
Once your project is complete, you can sign up for this with your electricity supplier so any surplus energy fed back into the grid will earn you money helping to profit from your investment.
Other
features
Surplus energy can also be diverted to devices such as an immersion heater or EV charger. The system can be monitored and controlled from an app allowing you flexibility to manage the system in a way that will give you maximum benefit.
